Be heard. Together we must send a message to state lawmakers that they must allow this tax to finally come to an end on June 30th.
Write letters. E-mail. Make phone calls and visit with your state legislators. Tell them that it is time to finally eliminate the real estate conveyance tax.
Here are some simple instructions on writing a letter or e-mail to your mayor, first selectman and legislator:
* Use our legislator lookup tool to find the name of your legislator by clicking the red button at the bottom left of this page.
* Write a brief letter (see sample) or make a phone call that identifies you as a voter in their district and why you are writing or calling.
* Explain exactly why the tax is troubling to you.
* Ask the legislator to take action - let the tax end on June 30th 2008 as planned.
* Be polite. Be specific. And be brief.
* Include your name and address.
